the round one. CIRCULAR...methinks everything happening in the world is coming back to the point where it more or less started. as in it ends where it started.
Picture this...
in the stone age.. people didnt know how to communicate. they didnt have a common language. they didnt have a language at all. so they used sounds to communicate with each other.... then they slowly learnt the sign language... and then slowly various languages.. then they tried to communicate in a common language.
then Alexandar Graham Bell was born.. and therefore the telephone. so people started communicating long distance... then came the computer... internet... and wat not.....
if we observe.. intially even the companies had registers and most of the people who were uneducated put their finger prints. then came signatures.... then the swipe cards.. then the digital ID cards...
but now if we observe, the direction has changed and we are covering the second half of the circle.
now we are using retina scan, finger print to access higly classified areas / data. we are back... to fingerprinting digitally....
then we hardly have time to speak.. no time at all... all of us stopped communicating... its only some strange short text messages.. (KISS: Keep It Short and Simple it seems). no time for talking face to face... no time to see all the hilarious expressions... only some smileys...not that they are bad..but its that we are imagining smileys instead of the actual person....
we are losing all the actual contact with all of our loved ones...that is the most saddest thing...
its been about six months since i met my best friend. we just send some mails, some fwds and the usual "Happy New Year", Happy Birthday cards....
thats the thing. its all ending in the same place where it began....

I am sorry but I dont agree with you at all on this.
Imagine stone or imagine early 60's. How often would you see/visit friends. Think of transportation, will you actually get to meet all your friends or relatives.
Think of now, accepted you cannot meet them. You can still "ping/scrap" them.
I believe the best contribution of technology (specifically communication has been to shrink the world and expand your reach. Check your friend in orkut. if it werent there at all I bet you couldnt have met some of them forever in your life (e.g. you old school mates)
